What has been your favourite part of arts week and why?
It has been a great week of the arts and the class and I are looking forward to sharing what we’ve done with all who venture into school tomorrow. Just to wet your appetites here’s a little preview of what Y3/4H have been upto…
Monday – Dance with Louise Wilkes, putting the moves to a Hoyland Hop. Followed by a 2014 calendar competition with the task of depicting Lowe Stand in a month of the year.
Tuesday/Wednesday – Trips to Cannon Hall for work on oriental inspired music, drawing and origami. And in school the introduction to the tale of the Wantley Dragon that led to groups using collage to create their own representations.
Thursday – Story Dramas in the schools very own amphitheatre, bringing to life the tale of the Wantley Dragon. Also a fantastic visit from the Worsbrough Brass Band allowing all to participate and experience a wide range of brass and percussion instruments.
A shame such a great week has to come to an end but also looking forward to what the last day will bring. Hope these few pics showing such a small part of what these fab kids have been getting up to inspires you to come along and see more.
Thanks HCPS arts team for putting on this brilliant week of learning, skills and experience building and some great fun.
I don’t know about the rest of you Y5’s but I had a fantastic day at Cannon Hall today!
Creating our own piece of music was amazing!
Then we worked on a Chinese style picture which we turned into a paper boat!
All of our work from today will be on display in Cannon Hall throughout the summer. It would be great if you could take your parents to see the display.
What did you learn today? What did you enjoy?
What a wonderful day out at Cannon Hall. Today we added the finishing touches to the collaboration between Cannon Hall and Hoyland Common Primary. This will be on show in Cannon Hall throughout the Summer. We produced some art and used this to create a paper boat. In the second session we created a piece of music to be used as part of a soundscape to accompany the artwork. A great day was had by all!
What a really eventful day in Y3/4!
We had the opportunity to play brass instruments with Worsbrough Brass Band and take part in an improvised performance of the Dragon of Wantley.
I am sure we have some brass musicians of the future by the look of these faces!
I can’t think of a better place to perform than in our own Greek theatre in the sunshine!
We are so looking forward to sharing our work tomorrow at 2:15. I hope you can
