Today in three we embarked on the Great British Spring Clean and ventured out to litter pick in our local area. We were armed with everything we needed to be EXPERT LITTER PICKERS. Gloves, Litter Pickers, Bags and High Vis vests.

We began walking outside our school and could not believe the amount of rubbish stuffed behind our walls. But, being the expert litter pickers that we are,  year 3 were sure to pick up anything in sight!

As we made our way to Tankersley Church, we continued on our quest and after 20 minutes our bags were already full! It was time to hand out extras and continue in to the woods.

The children were a pleasure to watch / work with. They were overheard talking about what is biodegradable and what’s not. They discussed facts in relation to how long this litter would remain in the environment if we were to leave it there and were even heard chanting “we’re saving the world! We’re saving the world” .

What amazing young people.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”

Well done Year 3 ❤️🌎
