Your Fantastic Beasts… /

Last week we began investigating reports. This is incredibly important as we have been asked by Newt Skamander to create an entirely NEW beast for his up coming book! His book contains the most beautiful, detailed sketches of these incredibly rare creatures, along with specific information about each fantastic beast! Naturally, we have stepped up to this challenge, but we know it will be tough (AND EXCITING!) Do you have any ideas about your beast? What will they look like? What will they be a hybrid of? Can you tell me any words or phrases that you’re thinking of including? Good luck class 8- Reply with your wonderful knowledge/ideas. Thank you. Mrs H.

This week we received a letter from Lego Masters and Channel 4 inviting us to participate in a mini movie making competition. Lego Batman is in trouble and his arch enemy is about to destroy Gotham City! We have to make our set and create a film based on this synopsis. What ideas do you already have?  Who is the enemy? What will your city look like? How will you make it? I am excited to hear your ideas, share them below.

Extreme Explorers! /

For our Extreme Explorers topic we have been learning all about rivers and the water cycle! We have created our own rivers during an experiment on the school playground and we have begun creating some fantastic art work to learn lots more. Take a look at us in action, we’ve also learnt the water cycle song! WARNING! It gets stuck in your head, very quickly! Be sure to show your loved ones the dance moves to the song… IMG_4211 IMG_4237 IMG_4263

Half term Homework for Class 8. /

NEWS PAPER TO READ

Click the link above that says ‘newspaper to read’. It’s your copy of Februarys ‘FIRST NEWS’.
Over the holidays can you read the newspaper and answer the ‘News Quiz’ questions that I have printed out for you. If you loose the questions,  they are in the newspaper (Page 26) so you can copy them on to a sheet of paper and write your answers underneath! (No excuses! 🙂 )

Enjoy learning about our world and the current news, I look forward to finding out what you have learnt when we return. Homework should be completed and handed to me on the FIRST MONDAY BACK.

Thank you. Miss Ransom

We have a very important job, we have been asked by Cannon Hall to research, design, make and test model Anderson Shelters. These may be used during their workshops to help educate other children. Yesterday we began our project and we looked at strength and stability because we know how important these properties are when making our own shelters. Today we have moved on to making! We have made prototypes and discussed the changes we may need to make to improve the shelter. Now we are making the real deal! Take a look at our learning journey so far….

What have you learnt?

Why is your Anderson Shelter  strong?

What changes did you make when making your shelter?

What have you enjoyed about your learning so far?
