Our class have had some really interesting discussions about this topic. Initially some children thought that girls could not play football and some other sports, after watching a video of the women’s football teams at the London Olympics we have changed our minds. We have also listened to the stories ‘Pink’ and ‘Mr Wolf and the enormous turnip’. Most of us now think that girls and boys should be treated equally. Thanks Mrs Brusby and Mrs Redfearn for a brilliant start to the Comm circles assemblies.

Our class discussed what we thought were jobs for girls and jobs for boys. Jobs for girls included – ballet, roller skating, wearing headbands, knitting and dancing. Jobs for boys included – chopping wood, driving buses, building houses, climbing trees, pilotting helicopters and holding umbrellas. We then looked at some amazing videos of men doing gynastics and women ploaying football before we all agreed that it shouldn’t make a difference what your gender is as long as you worked hard to be good at something you loved.

boys and girls should be treated equally because it wouldn’t be fair in life.
