How did you feel when the chocolates were shared between each table during the lesson?
Why was it not fair at the start? Was it fair when they were shared equally?
Equity and equality are two strategies we can use in an effort to produce fairness.
Equity is giving everyone what they need to be successful. Equality is treating everyone the same. Equality aims to promote fairness, but it can only work if everyone starts from the same place and needs the same help.
When the chocolates were shared I felt greedy also I thought it was unfair for the other tables because they got less than my table. But when we all just had one it was still unfair because someone might not like chocolate or can’t have that chocolate.
Equality is not fair because on the picture we we looked at they all had a box but the little one couldn’t see. Equity is about getting things to achieve what you need.
On our table we had six chocolate footballs and six of us we shared them out evenly as well as orange and yellow table. Green table had two chocolate footballs each and they said they would give them away. Purple table had a box of chocolate footballs and they gave theres away too. But blue table had a big bag of chocolate footballs and decided to have TEN EACH which we and the other tables thought was gready.
At the start wa all thought eaqual is fair but it is not.
In the end Mr Rob gave us all one chocolate football and Lewis a mint, so thank you Mr Rob.
We learnt about equality and equity. Chocolates were given out , one table got a bag full and then another table only got one chocolate to share! We said that wasn’t fair . We all had a chocolate at the end but some in the class didn’t like them so that wasn’t fair either.

Equality is actually not fair, cause if you look at the first picture there is a taller person a middle person and a smaller person, who are trying to watch a football match.
The taller person can see, the middle person can see, but the smaller person can’t.
Why not?
Because they have all been given a box that are all the same size, but actually if you look at the second picture the taller person has not got a box because it can see the middle person has got a small box so he/she can see and the smaller person has been given a larger box so that he/she can see and that is what you call equity.
I learned that when it’s equal it’s not always fair. Like when we all got one chocolate each it wasn’t fair on Lewis because he didn’t like them same for Mr Rob he wasn’t allowed to eat them, so it then made fair when Lewis got a mint instead of a chocolate football.
When the chocolates were given out one table had a full bag but on table had one to share so we thought it wasn’t fair and although we all had one chocolate at the end some tables didn’t want it so that wasn’t fair aswell
I found that being equal is not the way to sort things equity is.
If I was a steward I would get them a ticket so that they can watch the game in a seat.
It is fair equality is fair bit it might not be fair in some occasions but equity make is so every one has the same amount of boxes and it is so that it is fair and so that everyone can see the game
When we had the chocolate I felt greedy because we had seven each on our own.
The tall person had a box and the other had a box on the ather hand a small one only one of the boxes and if you put the tallest box on the small and then the small one will see.

When the chocolates were shared I felt greedy because we had a huge amount in the tin. All the other tables had a lot less except from the year 6 table who had a huge bag. I felt sorry for the other tables with less than us. They weren’t shared equally so that’s why I felt greedy.
When they were shared equally every table got the same amount but it still wasn’t fair on everyone because Lewis doesn’t like chocolate and Mr Rob can’t eat this kind of chocolate so they didn’t have any.
