Should animals be treated the same as humans?

By 17

So our community circles question this week was ‘Should animals be treated the same as humans?’

In out assembly we were all crammed to the front of the hall to experience the same treatment that some animals receive. During our class discussions, we were thinking about what rights humans have, which we struggled to understand.

My question for class 12 is: What are human rights and do you think animals should have the same rights?

Great poster Max! So do you think animals should have the same rights as humans?

I think a human right is a right which is believed to belong to every person.

Human rights is a freedom that belongs to everyone which means we should respect and treat people fair. Animals should have a type of right but not human as they are not human beings. They should still be treated with care and respect.

I like how you’ve used your understanding of human rights to persuade your decision Theo

What are human rights? Human rights are basic rights and freedoms that belong to every person in the world. Some examples are, freedom of speech & freedom of thought.
I think animals should have the right to be free. Some animals are treated cruel, they are made to work really hard and some animals are made to work in a circus when they would rather be in the wild.

Human rights are the basic rights and freedoms that belong to every person in the world, from birth until death. They apply regardless of where you are from, what you believe or how you choose to live your life.

They can never be taken away, although they can sometimes be restricted – for example if a person breaks the law, or in the interests of national security.

These basic rights are based on shared values like dignity, fairness, equality, respect and independence. These values are defined and protected by law. In Britain our human rights are protected by the Human Rights Act 1998.

Humans rights are freedom so we should have different rights because some animals should be in captivity or some animals would’t be existing

I think animals shouldn’t be treated the same because if you say you was driving a car and you looked frough the window and you saw a parrot riding a car THAT WILL BE WIERD that why I think animals shouldn’t be treated the same 😁

euan on 5 October, 2018

fran i think the same😎

Alissa on 8 October, 2018

I think they should not be treated the same because it is not fair animals because donkeys have to carry bricks we don’t

This is what I have found about should animals be treated the same as humans. I think that animals should be treated the same as humans because like you say about donkeys it’s not fair on them cause there just carrying a ton of bricks every day but like guide dogs they do already do a lot of work like helping blind people out and do lots of different jobs and they seem to be absolutely fine not getting hurt like donkeys.

But not treated like so there going out for tea or anything weird

What are human rights? Human rights is when a human has freedom and humans and animals shouldn’t be treated the same because some animals should be kept in captivity for a safe reason. (like a dangerous bear). Another reason is that if humans and animals were treated the same animals would be paying bills and going to work witch is a bit weird.:)
