Wow is the only word to describe this week!!! What a week it has been here at Hoyland Common Primary School!!
The week started on a high when we were lucky enough to not only have been nominated by a parent for the “School of the Year” Award in the Barnsley Chronicle “Proud of Barnsley” Awards but we were the chosen school by the judging panel and won! It was a huge accolade for all involved with our school, as we undoubtedly have the children at the heart of all our decisions and strive as a school to ensure that they have the very best education possible! A huge thank you to Alison Sutton for our nomination and also a huge thank you to every single member of staff and the pupils who make HCPS what it is!
Yesterday was the Stars of Hoyland Awards at Barnsley Town Hall. One of our children, Erin Marrison was nominated for an award for the “Young Volunteer” award after raising awareness and money for Diabetes UK by completing a mile swim! What a fantastic effort from Erin in not only swimming a whole mile but also raising money for a charity that is close to the hearts of many in our community.
At the Stars of Hoyland Award, Michael Dugher MP announced that he was doing a special award for a very special school, one that at was not only outstanding but also at the hub of the community. He announced Hoyland Common Primary School as that very star!
So as you can see it has been a week of awards! Topped off today with Ava in Year 3 winning the “name the roundabout” competition for the new roundabout further along from school! You will also be excited to know that it will be known as “Fitzwilliam” Roundabout.
Thank you all for your continued support and as ever if there is anything you wish to speak to us about, please do not hesitate to get in touch!
