At Hoyland Common Primary School, assessment plays an important role in helping us understand how well children are learning and progressing. We use a range of assessment methods throughout the year, including day-to-day classroom assessment, end-of-unit assessments and national assessments, to ensure every child receives the support and challenge they need to succeed.

Our assessment approach enables teachers to identify strengths, address misconceptions and plan learning effectively. We regularly monitor progress in reading, writing and mathematics and share information with parents through reports, consultation meetings and ongoing communication.
