Hoyland Common Primary School are a member school of HCAT. Each school within the trust maintains its unique identity and HCAT strongly believe that excellent schools have excellent leadership and management from within, and a key component of this is governance.

Overarching responsibility lies with the Board of Trustees and they have established Local Committees within each school to govern at individual school level.

Integrity
Holders of public office must avoid placing themselves under any obligation to people or organisations that might try inappropriately to influence them in their work. They should not act or take decisions in order to gain financial or other material benefits for themselves, their family, or their friends. They must declare and resolve any interests and relationships.
Objectivity
Holders of public office must act and take decisions impartially, fairly and on merit, using the best evidence and without discrimination or bias.
Accountability
Holders of public office are accountable to the public for their decisions and actions and must submit themselves to the scrutiny necessary to ensure this.
Openness
Holders of public office should act and take decisions in an open and transparent manner. Information should not be withheld from the public unless there are clear and lawful reasons for so doing.
Honesty
Holders of public office should be truthful.
Leadership
Holders of public office should exhibit these principles in their own behaviour. They should actively promote and robustly support the principles and be willing to challenge poor behaviour wherever it occurs.

“It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to Hoyland Common Primary School on behalf of the Local Governing Body. The role of the Local Governing Body is an extremely important one. We work very hard as a team alongside the staff, management, parents and pupils to ensure that Hoyland Common Primary School provides an outstanding education for your child. We also monitor the safety and welfare of our children and strive to create an open, caring atmosphere where everyone feels valued. We are extremely proud of the achievements of our children and of the high standards maintained in both learning and behaviour. It is our role to support and encourage the Executive Headteacher, Head of School and all staff to ensure each individual pupil has the opportunity to make progress as they move through school. I feel privileged to be the Chair of Governors at Hoyland Common Primary School and to lead an experienced team who work hard to share their expertise to challenge, support and guide the school forward. I am always available to discuss matters relating to school and can be contacted at Christina.Roberts@hcacademytrust.education
