House System
At Hoyland Common Primary School, our House System plays a key role in bringing our school community together. Rooted in our values of Kindness, Aspiration, Individuality and Curiosity, it promotes teamwork, leadership, responsibility and a strong sense of belonging for every child.
The House System helps to strengthen pupil voice, with our Heads of Houses and School Council working together to share ideas, represent their peers and contribute to school life. Through a wide range of activities, competitions and events, pupils are encouraged to work collaboratively, celebrate success and take pride in being part of their house team.

House Points
Every child at HCPS is a member of one of our four house teams:
Named after local places and families with historical connections to the Hoyland area, our house teams provide children with a sense of identity and pride throughout their time at school.
Pupils can earn house points in a variety of ways, including demonstrating excellent learning behaviours, showing kindness and respect towards others, displaying positive attitudes to learning and living out our school values each day. House points are collected and celebrated regularly, with totals shared across the school to encourage participation and teamwork.
At the end of each term, the winning house is rewarded with a special prize or experience in recognition of their collective effort and achievement.
Heads of Houses
Our Heads of Houses are positive role models who help to promote the values of their house team. They support school events, encourage participation in competitions, celebrate the achievements of their peers and help foster a strong sense of community spirit across the school.
The House System is an important part of life at Hoyland Common Primary School, providing opportunities for every child to contribute, succeed and feel proud to be part of our HCPS family.

I'm Miss Huckstepp. I absolutely love teaching and being there for the children of Hoyland Common Primary school. I am a passionate teacher who enjoys getting to know my pupils and their families. I love working alongside children and parents more...to bring out the best in all pupils. When I'm not teaching, I am usually spending time with my daughter, Pip, who is 3. I am a very family orientated person and I love to spend my time with my parents, sibling, grandparents, cousins and my huge extended family and friends on weekends. I particularly love camper vans and paddleboarding and will escape in my VW, with my board whenever possible!
