Today Y5 had the opportunity to meet Troy Conner, veteran Parachute Regiment, who told us his life story. It was informative, moving and very thought provoking.

I thought Troy’s visit was very interesting. I was amazed at Troy’s story and how he survived the blast to the head and how he lives his life now. I hope Troy can continue being the hero he is.
Meeting Troy was great. His story was so heart pounding. If we get this opportunity again I’ll be very happy.
I really loved listening to Troys story of his life growing up and being in that awful situation. I wish he could come in everyday to talk with us in YR5. I found it very interesting being able to know what Troy did for us and he’s a big hero to all of us. I’m really proud of Troy talking about what happened in his past and I’m sure he’s proud too.

I really enjoyed Troy coming I think that him being in the army and being a hero is cool! I also really liked it how I was able to ask him a question. Troy I am so sorry for the loss of your friends.

WOW Troy’s visit was AMAZING, I loved hearing the story of Troy’s life. He has been on so many cool adventures and is a true hero. He should be SUPER proud.
It was a plesure having Troy in and telling us all about his life. He said the most terrifying place he went to was Iraq. then he told us obout the vehicles he went in and in one of them he was the gunner and all of his freinds were doing other jobs like reloading the gun, and passing the person the ammo to the person who’s reloading. It was also very emotional for all of us and mostly for him he also told us about when he got bombed by someone he was the only one who survived the attack but sadly all of his freinds died in the attack. He has lost some of his skull and was not allowed to go back in the army. He is a hero!
Troy’s story was very bad and he went through alot. It was so facinating to hear what he did for the country. He is a big hero to all of us I wish he could come again. Now hes doing marathons and triathlons. Thankyou for coming in Troy!

I was amazed by how much he did for different people in different ways. He is a hero and im sad he cant still be in the army!
I really enjoyed having Troy at our school it must have been hard for him telling us his devastating story. It was good to find out all the places he had travelled to.

I really enjoyed Troy’s vist. When I heard the story about Troy and his friends I realised that solider’s are risking their life to keep us safe. I am really glad that we met Troy and he shared his story with us. He is a hero!

A couple of weeks ago a man called Troy came in and he was talking about his life and sadly his three friends died. I felt really sad about all three of his best friends dying but it was really interesting to find out about Troys life. He is a hero.

Firstly I would like to say a big thank you for the opportunity to come into the school and talk to the year 5 pupils.
I would like to mention Miss Davies and Mr Robinson for their hosting & great organising, Mr Tallant & the T.As whom I met who were very welcoming. Also the Y5 students for listening to my story and having clever and in depth questions. It was a good all around experience and I am hoping everyone involved took something from it.
I would very much appreciate any feedback from the staff or even the the pupils.
To that end I would welcome the invite to come along revisit and speak to the Y6 pupils or even an Assembly,
the theme being:
Adversity, Challenge & Resilience.
