It has been a wonderful year at Hoyland Common Primary School and I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every person who has contributed to making it so successful, from pupils, to parents, teachers and TA’s, admin staff, SMSAs and volunteers, visitors and members of the local community all who have added their bit to making this year at Hoyland Common Primary School as amazing as it has been.

The year has had so many highlights it is difficult to name them all, but things that have really stood out are the fantastic SATs results at KS1 and KS2, the great outcomes in the Phonics Screening Check and the Foundation Stage results. The amazing performance of Richard III and the end of Year show “Grease”, residential visits to Sherwood Forest and Thornbridge, and the endless successes at sporting events.

The final assembly of the year was a chance to showcase just how amazing the children of Hoyland Common Primary School are, whether that is 100% attendance, effort awards, level 3’s at KS1 or Level 5’s and 6’s at KS2, and that endless drive to achieve their potential by all children. The final table of dining with the stars for the year are those children who have been chosen for the effort award. 2 Children from each year group who have shown amazing effort all year long! I look forward to having my chance to dine with the Stars!

I would like also to wish all the best to those who are moving on from Hoyland Common this year. Firstly the Y6 pupils who as ever have surpassed all expectations and I can proudly say there are 48 well rounded, polite, courteous, hard-working, intelligent, successful young people moving onto the next stage in their education and am sure you will join me in wishing them all the best for the future. There are also a number of staff moving on this year, Mrs Fenn, Mrs Robinson, Miss Henshaw and Miss Whitehead are all moving on to new ventures and Miss Ring is taking the opportunity to do a years teaching abroad. Again I am sure you will join me in wishing them all the best on their new journeys.

Throughout the year I have promoted the need for great attendance and I am pleased to be able to say that attendance for the year is 96.5%. This will be above the national average and really contribute to the attainment and progress that children have made over the past year.

Thank you again for such a positive year, have a great and safe summer and see you back at school on the 2nd of September.
