It’s the end to another busy week at Hoyland Common Primary School and children have all settled in well to the new term and their new topics with there being a real buzz for learning around school.
Mr Fallon and I have completed a number of learning walks this week in and around school and children are engaged and listening in rapture, working well with their peers but also on their own initiatives, thinking up some really fantastic ideas.
Just a few of the exciting tasks I have seen whilst walking amongst the classrooms have included pond dipping down in Foundation Stage, Year 1 have all found their homes on Google maps and described their house and surrounding area. Year 2 have finalised their reports about the dragons they have created, and there were some truly wonderful pieces of writing to be seen whilst Years 3 and 4 have researched Viking Boats and created some replica ones from clay! And Years 5 and 6 really gave Cllr Andrews a grilling on Monday, mainly about the proposed roundabout changes and what his views were. I think we may have some budding politicians on our hands!!
Stars of the week this week have once again succeeded in meeting and surpassing the School Rules in a number of differing ways. It is always wonderful to see the pride each and every child at HCPS takes in their learning journey, their respect for their peers and all staff as well as members of the community and the fantastic manners that are displayed by all.
Attendance this week has been 97.4% so once again a huge thank you, attendance is so important to children’s education so it is always great to see the figures for the week being so incredibly high.
Once again, if you have any queries or concerns, or if you want to share some good news or compliments which are always lovely to hear, please do not hesitate to contact me or a member of the HCPS Team who will be happy to help.
