It has been another busy week at Hoyland Common Primary School and the end of the school year seems to be coming around far too quickly. The end of year show is really coming together and I am thoroughly looking forward to the performances next week. Y5 pupils visited Kirk Balk as part of the ongoing transition project and I’m sure the next year will fly by for them too.

On Wednesday a number of local schools came to Hoyland Common Primary School to take part in the ‘Tour de Hoyland Common’ cycling time trials. The children really enjoyed seeing the best time they could do on the circuit that had been set out for them. This afternoon pupils from Y3/4 will be taking part in a tennis tournament against other primary schools at Kirk Balk. This week also saw a challenge for all staff school, they were asked at some point throughout the day to be detectives and find some of the learning traits that we love to see in school including, independence, resilience, perseverance, fun, creativity and collaboration. Please see the news blog to see what was found.

Stars of the week have as ever been selected for going that extra mile. Children this week have been selected for their efforts in literacy and numeracy, their attitudes towards their learning, for showing independence in their learning and fantastic efforts in their phonics.

Please be aware that a letter stating which class your child will be in next year will be sent home with them on Monday. A great deal of consideration is taken when children are placed in classes and this is done to ensure we meet all their educational needs. The week beginning the 7th July is transition week and they will spend the week with their teacher for the next academic year. On the Tuesday of that week you are invited to meet your child’s new teacher after school. Your children will also receive their annual reports that week. I am sure they will make very positive reading!

Attendance this week is 94.2%, even in the final few weeks of term it is important to keep attendance as high as possible and Hoyland Common Primary School has really appreciated your support of the year, let’s keep it going for the final few weeks. As ever if there is anything you wish to discuss please do not hesitate to contact me or one of the HCPS team.
