It has been a great start to the second half of the spring term. This week has been as busy as ever, on Tuesday Hoyland Common Primary School celebrated ‘World Book Day’ and all the pupils and staff dressed up and did activities based around their favourite characters and books. Thursday and Friday this week saw Year 2 children visit Cannon Hall as part of their World War 2 topic, they completed a range of activities and chores as though they were World War 2 evacuees and all dressed up to play the part.

This week’s stars of the week were selected as ever for going above and beyond in various different aspects of school. This week it included for brilliant effort during Y6 residential, for fantastic writing during World Book day, for putting 100% effort into literacy and numeracy, and for trying hard at everything they do!

Attendance this week was 95.8%, let’s try to get it back up to those 98% and 99% we were seeing in the first term. Next week is assessment week so please do support your child by making sure they have a good night’s sleep and attend school as children always do so much better in their assessment if they do them with the rest of their class.

As ever please do not hesitate to contact me or one of my members of staff if you need to discuss anything about school or your child’s education.
