Not only has the weather been fantastic this week but so has the learning in school. It has been assessment week and the chance for children to really show off what amazing progress they have made in reading, writing and maths since November. It has been a real pleasure to hear so many teachers saying how remarkably well the children have embraced their assessments, persevered and shown resilience and I am sure this will show in their results. This is a chance to remind you that parents evening is on the 1st and 2nd of April. Letters will be going out shortly so please do come and speak to your child’s teacher to find out just how well they have got on.
In other areas of school this week we have had some great learning opportunities, pupils in Y5/6 took part in a ‘Sticky Bacteria’ workshop with PhD students from Sheffield University, looking at a whole host of wacky, weird and even disgusting experiments which the children absolutely loved of course! Y3/4 Children have taken the first few pedals towards their ‘bikeability’ award undertaking some cycling basics on the playground, again thank you for the team at Active Barnsley for their support.
Many of the stars of the week this week have been selected because of their hard work and efforts throughout assessment week, and a big well done to everyone in school for that too. One star of this week deserves a special mention for their fabulous speaking in front of the whole class, something I know they do find very difficult! Well done to you.
We are again back up to our incredible attendance figures for this week, an amazing 98% with two classes actually having 100%. A huge thank you goes out to pupils and parents alike, let’s keep up the brilliant effort. As ever please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any concerns in relation to school or your child’s education.
