It has been a busy final week of the half term at Hoyland Common Primary School, and what a busy half term it has been, Key stage 1 and Key stage 2 SATs and Assessment weeks for all other year groups, I think everyone is ready for a holiday! It is however extremely pleasing to say just how much effort and hard work all children have put in to them.
This week has seen the Girls football team take on West Meadows, they made a valiant effort against a very strong West Meadows team. The pupils in foundation stage have enjoyed a week of visits from various different pets and animals from cats, to guinea pigs to a very chirpy cockatiel. They really enjoyed their various visitors and apologies if there is an inundation of request for pets at home! The final arts and crafts session of the term and children took place on Thursday and children were stocked up with various art and craft materials to continue their projects at home.
As ever a child from each class was chosen to be Star of the Week, so many children were put forward for their efforts during assessment week and also for their independent pieces of writing. One Star really did shine out for having a caring nature and looking after one of her friends who was feeling unwell.
The final half term has a range of exciting activities planned, the first week back is Arts week and a variety of art, music and drama activities and visits are planned, please do come along to the show case on the Friday to see the children’s work. Attendance this week was a little bit lower than we have been used to at 95.5%, let’s do our best to keep it as high as possible for the final term. As ever if you wish to discuss anything about your child’s education please do not hesitate to contact me. Have an enjoyable and see half term and see you after the holidays.
