It has been another great week at Hoyland Common Primary School and this week we have seen some fantastic sporting efforts and achievements.
With an improvement in the weather the Y6 Bike rides along the Trans-Pennine trail from Penistone to the Wetlands Centre in Manvers took place on Tuesday and Friday, all 18 miles of it! It was great spending some time with the Y6 pupils before their move to Secondary School after the summer.
The beginning of the week also saw children in years 5 and 6 have a chance to try Fencing, the children really enjoyed it and you never know perhaps we might have some future Olympians on our hands and on Thursday the winners of the Hoyland Common Golf Open enjoyed the golf lessons from the ‘Pro’ at Sandhill Golf Course. The children thoroughly appreciated the time that was spent with them improving their hand and it was commented on how well behaved and polite they were.
Year 1 pupils this week completed their phonics check. They tried incredibly hard and I am sure that this will be reflected in their results.
The stars of the week this week were selected for some fantastic reasons. Lots of children were selected for putting 100% effort in, working hard and trying their best. Other reasons were for been kind, caring and helpful, for fantastic theme park designs and for trying incredibly hard in their phonics test. Well done to you all, I hope you enjoyed dinning with the stars.
It is a busy last few weeks of school before the summer so do please keep in touch with events that are coming up on the website, sports days, ends of year shows, transition weeks, sports events and the summer fair to name but a few. Even though it is coming towards the end of the year there is still plenty of learning taking place so please do continue to ensure your child’s attendance remains as high as possible.
As ever if there is anything you wish to discuss about your child’s education please do not hesitate to contact me on one of the Hoyland Common Primary School team.
