It has been another busy but fantastic week at HCPS. Y2, Y3/4 and Y5/6 have all been on visits to support their learning for their topics.

On Tuesday Y3/4 visited Cadbury’s world to find out about the history of chocolate and how it was and is made and I believe a few samples were tasted too. On Wednesday Y2 had a fun filled day at Magna finding out about rockets, tornados and a whole host of different scientific things, and on Thursday Y5/6 visit the Imperial War Museum in Manchester to learn further about World War 1. It was great to hear so many positive comments about how well the children behaved and how much they enjoyed the visits, please have a look at their class blogs to find out more.

It was also Roald Dahl Day on Monday and learning right across school was based on the many fantastic books of Roald Dahl.

Thank you to all the parents who attended the ‘Understanding phonics’ meetings, there was a fantastic turn out and I do hope they were of use! Parent meetings about SATs and SEN reforms are coming up soon.

Stars of the week have again been selected for going the extra mile and doing that little bit extra, this week stars have been selected for showing resilience in Maths, having a fantastic attitude, trying their hardest with their spellings, having an fabulous approach to learning and finally having excellent manners. Hope you all enjoyed your dining with the stars!

Attendance this week has been positive, even with the start of the year bugs going round, this week attendance was 96.8%. As ever if there is anything you wish to discuss about your child’s education please do not hesitate to contact me or one of the HCPS team, don’t feel you have to wait until parents evening!

On a final note I am sure your will join me in sending all our wishes to Miss Crookes who starts her maternity leave today.
