It has again been an incredibly busy week at Hoyland Common Primary School. On Monday the Y3/4 Pupils football team played against a Y3/4 team from Darfield Upperwood and in a game which was played in a wonderful spirit,HCPS came out victors. We are looking forward to the return fixture against Y5/6. Wednesday children from Y1 had a brilliant day at ‘The Deep’ in Hull following on from their project on Pirates to animals that live in the sea. It sounds like all the children had a great time particularly watching the penguins! Wednesday also saw Y6 pupils visit ‘Crucial Crew’ at the Lifewise Centre, children took part in activities on road safety, were involved in a mock magistrates court and workshops around drugs and alcohol abuse and fire safety. It has also been assessment week this week and I want to mention at this point the amazing effort from all children and I am sure this will be reflected in the progress they make.

This week’s stars of the week were selected for ‘Dining with the stars’ for a wide variety of reasons, these included lots of children who put 110% effort in to their assessments, having fantastic attitudes towards learning. But also children who have shown continued excellence outside of the school.

Attendance this week has slipped a little to a fraction below 96%, please to try and ensure your child’s attendance remains as high as possible, December is going to be attendance awareness month and there will be lots activities and rewards for pupils and classes in relation to attendance. Coming  up over the next few weeks in school is parents evening at the beginning of December, please do come along and find out how your child is progressing.  As ever if there is anything you wish to discuss about your childs education please do not hesitate to contact me or one of the Hoyland Common Primary School team.
