It has been a busy first week back after half term at Hoyland Common Primary School.
The week has included a total of nearly 50 miles of mountain biking for year six pupils on their bike rides from Dunford Bridge to the Wetlands Centre at Manvers along the Trans Pennine Trail. It was a fantastic effort from all the children involved.
Final touches are being put in place for the performance of ‘A Midsummers night’s dream’ at the Lamp room theatre on the 18th June. Auditions and rehearsals are well underway for the Y6 end of year performance of the Wizard of Oz and any support from parents to help in the making of costumes would be much appreciated!
This morning, Mr Clare’s class are visiting the library, I am sure they will have a great time finding their new reading books and this afternoon Y5/6 pupils will be taking part in the locality rounder’s tournament at Birdwell Primary School, good luck!
Stars of the week this week this week have been selected for a wide variety of reasons including, putting 100% effort into their learning, for asking great questions, for been kind and caring towards others, for having a great attitude towards learning and school. Well done to you all and enjoy dining with the stars.
Attendance this week is 92.2%. As ever I need to stress the importance of children’s education and the link to attendance, children who have positive attendance (over 96%) perform significantly better at school than those children who have poor attendance and the impact of having time off in school can never be caught up. So please do not be tempted by holiday companies offers of cheaper holidays during term time, holidays during term time are not authorised and families may be fined if unauthorised absences are taken.
As ever if there is anything you wish to discuss about your child’s education please do not hesitate to contact myself or one of the HCPS team.
