As another week draws to end, it’s time to reflect on the fantastic learning at Hoyland Common this week. I have been really impressed with the dedication and hard work that children have put into various assessment completed this week – it really does show our resilience and responsibility for learning that so many children want to demonstrate how much progress they have made.

In year 5 this week, two groups have completed their Bikeabilty Awareness course. We have had great comments from both staff and pupils on the sessions and a further 3 groups will complete their award next week. Throughout school, Operation shoebox  has been a fantastic success and 81 boxes were collected on Wednesday. I would again like to like both parents and children for their donations. It really will  make a difference to other children all around the world.

Stars have been chosen this week for fantastic effort during assessments, being ready to learn and following instructions, being polite, helpful and a good example to others, great attitude to learning and applying maths skills really well. Well done to all – I hope you enjoyed dining with Mrs Bramall!

I would like to end by saying a thank you to all for your fund raising efforts in support of Children in Need this week. The School Council has led on plans to create a colouring competition and superheroes non-uniform day to raise money for disadvantaged pupils across the country. The charity talent show this afternoon was absolutely fantastic – pupils throughout school were given the chance to show off a variety of skills including: singing, dancing, drumming and card tricks. If you get a chance to watch some of the Children in Need programme this evening, be proud of the contribution you have made.

As always, if there is anything I can help you with, please do get in touch.
