It’s the penultimate week of the 1st half term before the February break but learning hasn’t stopped at Hoyland Common Primary School.
Foundation Stage Children have we met Metal Mike the School Robot. Metal Mike helps with phonics and he likes to eat words but isn’t very good at reading so the children had to help him. They used phoneme frames and magnetic letters to help them segment and blend words before feeding them to Metal Mike. What a fantastic effort by the youngest of our children here in school.
Year 2 are all looking forward to their trip to Wentworth castle after the February break and have been using the Comic Strip App to create Dragon Stories to complement their topic work. The use of ICT is something we are very proud of at HCPS and this use continues right through school with Mr Tallant’s class this week creating their own loops using a website called ‘incredibox’. They were able to select different sounds and create their own looping beat! Check out the videos on the school blog for some examples of their work!
The stars of the week have been selected for an array of reasons this week including, a real effort in all that they do, fantastic independent writing, having high expectations and super efforts. Showing resilience and being polite and friendly. These attributes are one of the many reasons I am so proud of the children at Hoyland Common Primary.
Attendance this week has again been extremely positive, 96.8%, even the wind and rain hasn’t prevented children from being in school and also arriving on time and ready to learn.
As ever if you do have any queries or concerns or perhaps want to share something positive with us, please do not hesitate to contact myself or a member of the school team.
