Good afternoon to all,
I would like to thank everyone at Hoyland Common for such a fantastic week of learning – I really have enjoyed getting into lessons and seeing such a range of fun and exciting activities this week.
I will begin in Y1, where are pupils and staff visited Eureka Activity Centre this week. It was great to hear that you all had a fantastic time finding about the digestive system and investigating interactive sensory games. In Y2, we have had a visit from ZooLab and pupils have had a hands on experience with a variety of exotic creatures, including snakes, tarantulas and even ‘Sonic’ the Madagascan Hedgehog.
Towards the end of the week, Our Y3/4 classes visited Cannon Hall, where they found out more about the 1940s – including how to ‘make do and mend’ and how to make soup for the ‘Dig for Victory’ campaign. I was also extremely impressed with our Y5/6 mental mathematicians. I know that lots of you are already enjoying challenging each other on Timestable Rockstars and I have been particularly impressed with Miss Redfearn’s maths class, who got 78% of their mental maths questions correct!
This week, our stars have been selected for being an excellent role model fro others, showing great enthusiasm in topic work and always being kind helpful and fun. well done to all the stars! I hope everyone continues to enjoy their learning as the settle into the new term – and I hope you are as excited about our topics as I am!
Well done and thank you for another excellent week of learning, challenge and fun!
Kind Regards,
