Once again there have been a wonderful range of fantastic learning taking place at Hoyland Common Primary School this week. Children, staff and parents alike have been learning a range of new things.

Last Fridays INSET day saw all staff go back to the classroom and take part in a range of different learning opportunities including looking at creativity in numeracy and literacy, how to question effectively, what learning looks like and high quality differentiation to name but a few.

This week also saw the opportunity for parents to learn too, the parents of Y6 children attended the ‘Pre-SATs’ meeting to get an insight into what their children will experience in the SATS come May, thank you to so many of you for attending. The parents of foundation stage and Y1 children were invited to attend a phonics work shop to look into how phonics is taught and how it can be supported at home, once again thank you for attending in such numbers.

Then I was fortunate enough to do a double ‘stars of the week’ assembly as last weeks was missed due to the INSET day. Again an array of reasons were chosen for why children were selected this week, pleasingly for me so many were about my favourite subject, maths!

I am particularly pleased to see both Bailey and Jack receiving stars of the week in the past couple of weeks, keep up the great work lads!
