Not three in a line!
Above are some 3×3 grids with some of the ways 3 counters can be arranged in a row.
I’d like to know what is the most amount of counters you could place in a 3×3 grid WITHOUT getting 3 in a row!
And then… how many counters can you put in a 4×4 grid without getting 3 in a row!
I think the answer is six, Mr Hastey for the 3 by 3 grid
I think the answer is eight for the 4 by 4 grid.
I think the answer is 6 for the 3 by 3 grid
And I think the answer is 8 for the 4 by 4 grid.
I think the answer is five for a three by three grid
and I think it is nine with the four by four grid Mr Hastey.
