It has been another exciting week at Hoyland Common Primary School, children have continued working hard and enjoying their topics. On Tuesday the school had a day exploring e-safety and what it means to be safe using IT and it was interesting to see that in assembly our online guest wasn’t quite who they said they were.
In Y5/6 this week it has been science based and a whole host of experiments and investigations have taken place about materials and their properties. It has been fantastic to see so many children engaged in real hands on practical science. On Wednesday a group of children from across KS2 visited Birdwell Primary School, where the Barnsley Museum Service were delivering a session on historical artefacts.
The stars of the week this week have been selected for some wonderful reasons including – always being helpful and kind, for amazing effort in their writing and for working hard in everything they do. Well done to you all and keep up the effort and hard work.
On Tuesday I had the pleasure of attending ‘The Yorkshire Education Summit’ in Leeds, where schools who are seen to be leading good practice and really making a difference to the youngsters at their school where asked to share what they do and why it has made a difference. This was done with a view to then be able to support schools who need additional help to meet the needs of their youngsters. I am very proud that the Local Authority view Hoyland Common Primary School as one of the leading lights for education in the area and this can only be put down to the continued hard work of the pupils, staff and all other stakeholders in the school.
Today, a group of gymnasts from KS1 have gone to West Meadows Primary School to perform their routine with all the other primary schools in the area. I hope it goes well!
Attendance this week is 95.9% a definite step forward in the right direction, let’s do everything we can to get it back up to those 98% weeks we saw earlier in the year. As ever if there is anything you wish to discuss about your child’s education please do not hesitate to contact me.
