It was a long but fantastic first term for us all. Our Lest We Forget topic kicked us off with a bang as we explored a range of artefacts from the 1910’s and visited The Imperial War Museum.
We learnt lots about the key events of the war, trench life and the vehicles used during The Great War. What were your favourite moments?
In numeracy we have covered lots of different areas such as; place value, rounding, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, units of measure, fractions, 2D shapes and coordinates. You have impressed me with your knowledge and with your improved scored on your daily times table challenge, well done!
Literacy has been a real journey. We spent time reviewing the basics, punctuation, word classes and sentence types. We examined The War Horse, wrote extended metaphor poems and we have used the Sainsbury’s Christmas advert to create some emotive diary entries.
There have been lots of other exciting events throughout the term including, Thornbridge and Crucial Crew for Y6, The Junior Chef Workshop and The MacMillan Coffee Morning to name but a few.
What have been your favourite moments from this term? Why?
Thanks for a great first term. I’m looking forward to the next one! Miss Hayward
