We have received some very exciting news this afternoon. The Arts Council have funded a digital arts and community dance project to take place here at HCPS. This will bring Jason Wilsher-Mills back to our school and we know the children will be delighted to see him again. Jason has worked with us on several occasions to develop the children’s learning around iPad art. The project will also see us working with Louise Wilkie again who produced the Hoyland Hop during one of our arts weeks. Please keep looking out for more exciting developments.

After 18 months of planning I am proud to announce that the Arts Council England have agreed to fund the ‘Even Coal Shimmers at Night’ digital arts & community dance project, involving 2 schools in Barnsley Birkwood Primary School & Hoyland Common Primary
I will work alongside the staff and the extremely talented community dancer, Louise Wilkie & some wonderful teachers.
It will celebrate and remember all those who worked in the mining industry in Barnsley.
As the son of a coal miner this is particularly important to me. Also the staff and pupils are very special, so can’t wait to work with them
Thank you to Arts Council England for funding this project.
