What another busy week it has been at Hoyland Common Primary School. The start of the week saw a visit from the Deputy Leader of the Council, Jim Andrews, who talked to some of our Y5/6 Pupils about what the Council does and how councillors are elected. On Tuesday pupils across KS2 took part in the finals of the Sport Hall Athletics competitions.

The pupils across years 3 and 4 have gone to the National Space Centre today as part of their topic and will be finding out more about Tim Peakes’ spacewalk today! I’m sure their visit will be “out of this world”!!

The stars of the week this week were selected for a variety of different reasons including, for a fantastic effort all week in everything they do, for excellent concentration and application, for setting a good example for other pupils, for being polite and helpful, for showing independence and for improved handwriting and spelling to name but a few! Well done to you all and enjoy dining with the stars.

This week’s attendance has been 98.4% another fantastic week of attendance. Well done let’s keep up the brilliant start to the term!

In other news, Monday and Tuesday of this week saw the start of the after school ‘boosters’ for Y6 pupils in readiness for SATs, all Y6 pupils attended which will make a massive difference in May, so thank you all for your continued support!

Finally I would like to wish all the best to Mr Hackney who is leaving us today to start a new job as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant at Ward Green. Congratulations on your new job and many thanks for all your efforts during your time at HCPS.

As ever if there is anything you wish to discuss about your child’s education please do not hesitate to contact one of the HCPS team.
