It’s the end of a productive Assessment Week here at HCPS and it has been wonderful to see children throughout school applying themselves and really knuckling down to ensure that they get the outcomes they all deserve. Years 5 and 6 undertook their assessments in the hall in exam type conditions to allow them to get a real feel for the upcoming SATS in May. Teaching Staff will be feeding back to parents at Parents Evenings on the 08th and 09th March so please make sure you return the reply slips.

In other news this week, Nursery Children had their inaugural school visit to Yummy Yorkshire on Monday and thoroughly enjoyed themselves – check out their class blog to see their “go pro” footage that shows the visit from a child’s perspective including a rather large cow lick!
Year 1 and 2 have got “Debs” in from Eggucation today checking on the eggs that were incubated last week. Today she is “candling” them to see how they are growing. The children are extremely excited for the birth of the chicks, which are expected in around 2 weeks’ time!

Years 3 and 4 are rehearsing madly for their space themed Easter show “Out of this world!” I won’t give any spoilers away but tributes to the great David Bowie may just be featured!

We have also got 28 Newly Qualified teachers in school today as part of our Tykes Teaching School Programme. They are looking the learning environment and how engaged children are in their learning; hopefully taking some of the fantastic ideas we use in school away.

Stars of the week this week have been selected for a variety of reasons, mainly around their application and mature attitudes during assessment week.

Attendance this week is 97.2% and a huge well done to Miss Crossley’s class who have attained 100% attendance! What a fantastic achievement Class 3.

As ever, if you have any concerns or compliments you would like to share, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the HCPS team who will be happy to help.
