It once again has been a brilliant week of learning at Hoyland Common Primary School. The ongoing search to find the culprit of the crimes in the Y5/6 CSI project is coming to an end and I am sure there will be a trail to follow soon! The culmination of 2 years’ hard work came together on Tuesday and Wednesday evening with the ‘Coal Shimmers at Night’ events at the town hall and school. The children’s performances on both evenings were amazing and the projections of the art work on both buildings looked absolutely fantastic. Many thanks to all those parents who attended to make the evening the brilliant event that it was. Also, a big thank-you to all the staff and artists that supported the project, particularly Jason Wilsher-Mills who had the initial idea and brought all the aspects of the project together. This afternoon also saw the KS1 Multi Skills event at Kirk Balk. I hope you all enjoyed the event and have fun!
As ever children from each class were selected to be stars of the weeks were selected for reasons been a good example to their class mates, having a fantastic attitude towards their learning, for trying the best in everything they do and also for effort in maths. Well done to you all; I hope you enjoyed dining with the stars!
Next week sees the annual Y6 residential visit to Thornbridge Outdoors, where Y6 children will take part in a variety of activities including climbing, caving and mountain biking. Let’s hope the weather stays fine but I am sure come wind, rain or shine there will be lots of fun, laughs and memories to last a lifetime.
Attendance this week is 95.9%, slightly below the school’s target of 96%. However, both Miss Till’s and Mrs Harrison’s class has had 100% attendance. November is going to be attendance awareness months, where various different prizes and awards will be up for grabs for children who have positive attendance for the month or show significant improvement in their attendance!
As ever, if you have anything you wish to share or discuss about your child’s education, please do not hesitate to contact me or a member of the HCPS team. Thank you for your continued support.
