Building shelters

We have had a really exciting morning building shelters. When we came into our classroom it had completely changed. There were piles of cardboard tubes, umbrellas, nets, parachutes and all the tables had been turned upside down!
We spent the morning using all these things to make our own air raid shelters. We had an amazing time.

We talked about how our shelters would keep us safe. How did it feel in your shelter?

Today we were in groups of 5 making shelters. Me, Judd, Erin, Evie and Alisa were a group. Our shelters had tables that were up side down at the bottom of them. We did our shelters in our class room . I enjoyed doing the roof because we were lifting it up on our own.

I thought your shelters were amazing! You really listened well to the instructions and I especially liked the imaginary journeys we went on when you first sat down on the upside down tables and pretended they were boats!

I also thought your mini reflective shelters were a lovely way to remember how you may have felt if you were in some of the situations during wartime.

When we built the shelters it was good fun. We had to have 5 in a group. Mine was Jacob, Lucy, Jay, Harrison and me.
We made the shelters out of cardboard tubes, umbrerllas and pieces of cloth. When we went in the tables were upside down, we used them to hold up the shelter roof.

Y2 SHOW HOW THEY HIDE FROM BOMBS

Thursday 24th January my year 2class from Hoyland Common changed our classroom into a ww2 shelter.
I really enjoyed it because we learnt how to make them and work together. It was lots of fun. I would tell others to try it because you learn about the blitz, how people kept safe and we also had fun doing it while learning. To build the shelters we used cardboard tubes, umbrellas, upside down tables, wire, nets, and materials. I liked the christmas lights we used. We pretended to be people in the shelters during the war and turned off the lights and it was awesome also a bit scary.

Y2 SHOW HOW THEY MAKE A BOM SHELTER
The classrooms in y2 at HCPS were transformed into ww2 bomb shelters. I loved the bit when we looked at each other’s shelters. My shelter was really tall and thin. We changed the class room into a ww2 shelter. My favourite bit was building the shelters.

Class builds dens with visitors

On Thursday the 3rd of January we had visitors who came to make dens with us. They were called Cathy and Mrs Hewitt. We made dens with cloths, parachutes and umbrellas. My den was called the heart bracing kids. I ENJOYED tying the nots. After play time we explored other peoples dens.

Building special dens in our class

I had fun when I was building it. We used cardboard, parachutes, red nets, belts, umbrellas and tubes . We had all the tables upside down. Afterwards we put green lights on and held a red light inside. It was a fun way of learning how people kept safe from the bombs. I have had fun making my own dens at home today. I made
6 dens with my daddy.

THE BOMB SHELTERS ARE BACK
Last week we turned Mrs Harrisons classroom into a world war 2 bomb shelter. We got into teems, in my teem there was Jacob Davis, Sarah Jane, Isaac Broun, Lewis and me. We used huge toilet rols and put umbarelors in them so we could put the net over the umbarelors for protecton. I enjoyed hiding away underneath the umbarelors because we had colored lights in our hands.

Eqipment used to build new shelter

It was a very busy morning for us year 2’s. The classroom had changed. The tables were upside down and there was a lot of eqipment. We used umberllers to keep the boms off us. Year 2 were safe in the shelter.

on Thursday 23rd January 2014 year 2 pupils at Hoyland common primary school were set a mission. When we went into our classroom all our tables were upside down! We thought we were going on an adventur in a boat so we sat on the upside down tables. Then we built our own dens out of different materials and cardboard tubes. I enjoyed it very much and when we went inside our dens we had our pictures taken. We were given lights so we could look in other people’s dens.

The headline could be called ” CLASSROOM DENS ” we built dens, it was lots of fun. When we got into the classroom the tables were upside down. Mrs. Hewitt and another lady called Cathy helped us make dens, we had little groups of five and then we needed a team name. Our team was called Eagle A team, in my team there was Harrison, Lucy, Jacob, Jay and me. We started making our dens with my group , first we got an umbrella and a cardboard tube and we stuck the cardboard tube into the up side down tables and put the umbrella on top of it. We got some cloths and we put the cloths on the umbrellas we had to tie knots with string on the umbrellas so that they wouldn’t fall down, we had clips and the clips were for sticking them onto the umbrellas . We also had bubble wrap, my team used the bubble wrap for doing windows at the sides. Then we got little globes and when we got into the classroom after play it was all dark so we had to have the globes for showing us where to go. We looked in eachothers dens, everybodys had different kinds of lights and it looked amazing ! Last of all we had little boxes and paper , we made the box and then Mrs.Hewitt gave us some sticky tape , after we made the box we tore the paper and stuck it onto the boxes. All of us enjoyed building dens.

The amazing suprises at H.C.P.S.
Class 5 and class 6 built dens but my class got to do it first and I had no maths and no literacy.
It was really exciting and I got a bit of infomayshon about the dens and I used my imagnayshan.
