The year 6 have been taking part in weekly cycling skills PE lessons this half term. Pupils have built on cycling technique, bike maintenance and riding efficiency. This week’s focus has been on efficient gear shifting.
With two weeks to go until Thornbridge, these pupils are looking well prepared for their Monsal Trail ride.
8 new bikes will help us to continue and move forward in providing a great selection of biking events throughout the year: bike ability training, Thornbridge and Sherwood cycling activities, the end of year bike rides and more.
Have you ever made use of the HCPS bikes? What did you use them to do?

The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.
As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.
Thankyou to Mr Hardy and Miss Wood for ensuring our school were able to take part in a great selection of inter school sporting events.
Very proud of the day 1 cyclists who overcame 20miles of riding, leg destroying hills, crashes, punctures, nettles, sweltering temperatures and more. To complete a very challenging bike ride.
Was great to receive constant praise from other users of the TPT on how impressed they were with the manners and attitude of our pupils.
