It has been another fantastic week at Hoyland Common Primary School. The start of the week saw a theatre company visit KS2 pupils and they did a fantastic performance of all things Christmassy. On Wednesday the pupils in Y1 and Y2 thoroughly enjoyed their visit to the Pantomime at Birdwell to see Dick Whittington. Children in Y3/4 have been frantically making their products as part of their topic on chocolate ready for the Christmas fair and yesterday pupils in Y5/6 were visited by a chef who specialised in recipes from the World War 1 era, where children really had a fantastic day, baking with the limited resources they had in that time.
The stars of the week this week were selected for a wide range of reasons as ever; including developing a fantastic radio advert, trying incredibly hard in maths, for having fantastic attitudes towards learning, and for having a great persuasive argument in literacy. Well done to you all, enjoy dining with the stars and you will get your certificates in assembly next week due to the Christmas fair.
Thank you very much too all those people who have contributed to the Christmas fair, I am sure it will be a great afternoon and raise lots of money for the school fund which helps reduce the cost of trips and visits throughout the school year.
This was the first week of attendance awareness month and it was great to see so many children being aware of their own attendance and really wanting to get that 100% attendance for the month. Thank you for your ongoing support in relation to this.
Don’t forget parents evening is next week, if you have not had chance to book an appointment please do! As ever if there is anything you wish to discuss about your child’s education please do not hesitate to contact me or one of the HCPS team.
