Debs from Eggucation came today. She brought two of her chickens, some eggs and an incubator. Debs told us all about which animals lay eggs and which don’t. She brought two of her chickens, Cindy Pom Pom and Repecker. We are in charge of looking after the eggs and checking the water levels in the incubator.

I was excited when the chickens and eggs came in because we get to keep the eggs for three weeks until they hatch!!! 🙂 I can’t wait until they hatch

i can Reppeca was the softest because she had the most feathers:).
I enjoyed having the chickens in my class. I loved feeding the chickens dried mealworms. Cindy Pom Pom was my favourite chicken because she had a fluffy white pom pom on her head. I hope some of the chicks look like her.

I used to have chickens, one had a pompom head his name was rosy.
I had one called Fifi and one was fierce, we lent the fierce one to our local chicken shop we hope he has another family now.

The chickens were really cute and I cant believe we are keeping chicks thank you Deb for letting us keep them for 3 weeks and thank you for giving
us the incubator so the chicks can hatch.
Some animals lay eggs that is called a reptile and some animals babies are born straight away that is called
a mammal.

They have writing on the eggs to tell what sort they are??they are so cute!!!

I have about 120 hens at the moment!
First chicks start as tiny, little, red dots inside the an egg.
Then they get eyes and a tiny little body but a very huge head.
After that their body’s get bigger and bigger and even bigger.
And then when they are fully grown chicks they peck at their eggs all the way around until it cracks!!!

The incubator keeps the eggs warm. Wild birds look after their eggs by making a nest with twigs and feathers. They lay their eggs in the nest and sit on them to keep them warm. If they don’t stay warm they might not hatch.
