What a great day we all had at Elsecar Heritage Railway! First we met the Earl Fitzwilliam who told us about his life and how the village of Elsecar grew over the last 200 years.
ITV were filming for the People’s Poll and our children were lucky enough to be invited down to take part.
We enjoyed quite a few trips back and forth down the track while filming took place. We also had our lunch onboard before taking part in the final sequence ‘Votes for Coal’.
After filming was complete all the children created a steam train collage which will be on show in the visitors centre at Elsecar.
Please look out for Y1 and watch the bid for funding on ITV1 next Monday 25 November. It’s such a worthy cause!

We went on a steam train, I had lots of fun. Did you have fun too Mr Rob? How does the engine work?
