Good afternoon and a happy December to all,

As we make the final preparations for our school Christmas fair, it is a great time reflection on another fantastic week and Hoyland Common Primary.

In Foundation Stage and KS1 children are busily rehearsing for their nativity performances next week. Parents – please bring tissues! While in Miss Ransom’s class, pupils have been investigating the strange disappearance the snowmen. Check out their blog for an update. I have also just left class Miss Lloyd’s class, who have wowed me with their singing, as they prepare for the Christmas Carol assembly next week.

I have also been impressed with some of the current affairs stories being discussed in Miss Griffin’s class. I know that you have been debating some really thought-provoking issues and I look forward to more of your responses on the blog.

Next week is a chance for teachers to report back to parents on attainment and progress so far this year at Parents’ Evenings. We really hope to see as many of you as possible – please speak to your child’s class teacher if you haven’t already arranged a time to meet. We will also have a representative from Kirk Balk present from 3:30pm onwards if any parents want to discuss transition to secondary school.

Stars have been chosen this week for enthusiasm during nativity rehearsals, being a great role model, much an independent leaner and for fantastic writing in literacy. There will be a special celebration assembly on Monday to present your awards! I would like to thank staff, pupils and parents in advance for their efforts and involvement in our Christmas fair, Nativities and party celebrations. I have been so impressed with the learning outcomes so far this year and as the term draws to a close, I hope that everyone enjoys the last few weeks of learning at Hoyland Common.

Thanks to all for your continued support.

Mr F 🙂
