Good afternoon and a huge thank you all for another amazing week of learning here at Hoyland Common. It was an absolute pleasure to hear the views from our pupil survey this week. These have been shared with all teaching staff who were extremely thankful for the positive comments pupils had about their learning journeys this year. The school council will also be analysing the results to look at how we can continue to improve as a school.
During learning walks this week, it has been fantastic to see IT used to support leaning. Y1 pupils have been route planning using google maps, while Y2 have used ipads and the internet to research as part of their ‘Wild Things’ topic.
In year 3/4, pupils have been develop their non fiction writing skills to make comparisons between Vikings and Romans, while in Y5/6 have taken advantage of the improving weather and tried their hand at Danish Long-Ball this week.
I have been particularly impressed with the learning walk I did in Foundation Stage today and with their independent approach to learning. I had to include this model house that Betsy had created, complete with a waterproof roof!
Stars of the week have been chosen for superb effort, fantastic attitude in literacy and contributing great ideas in class discussions. well done to all! Have a great weekend.
Mr Fallon
