World Record Holders

The release of the 2014 Guinness book of world records yesterday has inspired me to look into some of the animal worlds record holders. Some of these animals put our human Olympians to shame.

This is the Rhinoceros Beetle and it is a weightlifting champion. It can lift nearly 900 times its own weight. Think you could give a piggy back to 900 other children?

This is the peregrine falcon – the fastest animal in the world. When free diving it can reach speeds over 200 mph. My car can’t go that quick!

Usain Bolt’s world record time for the 100m is 9.58 seconds. Here we have the cheetah, the fastest land animal in the world. They have been timed covering the same distance in close to 5 seconds. That’s fast!

We’ve had the land and air speed record holders so to finish off this is a sailfish, the fastest fish in the sea. Capable of swimming for short bursts at upto 70mph.

Try looking up some other record breaking animals. Would any make a good Olympian?

Y1R’s Animal Record Breaker:

The Blue Whale-

Did you know that the largest animal in the world is the blue whale.
It can be 100feet long and weigh 200 tons.
It eats 6 tons of food every day.

Y1R this is such a fantastic animal world record holder fact. It even encouraged me to look up the blue whale myself. Below is a picture of a blue whale. It makes the people and boat look so small! I also found out that the blue whale is the biggest animal that has ever lived… that’s even bigger than the dinosaurs. It’s a shame these giants are an endangered animal

Thanks Y1R!
