It has been another exciting week at HCPS and I am very proud of the schools recent recognition as one of the highest attaining school in Yorkshire and the excellent outcomes for disadvantaged pupils as identified by the Minister of State for Schools the Rt Hon David Laws MP. I am sure you will join me in thanking all the staff and pupils at HCPS for their efforts and congratulate them for their well-deserved recognition.

In other news this week the Y5 pupils have completed their Bikeability training, a fantastic achievement. The children in foundation stage have enjoyed their visits to the local decorating shop as part of their learning around Houses and Homes. The dinosaur homework projects in Y3//4 have been fabulous and there will be a chance for parents to come and view them all next week.

This week and over the next few weeks there has been a slight change to how children will be selected for dining with the stars. Each week in Mondays assembly one of the schools ‘golden rules’ will be looked and a child will be selected for demonstrating these rules to the highest possible standard. This week’s golden rules was ‘Always show respect to yourself, each other and your surroundings. Children have been selected for thinking about others before themselves, looking after their belongings and being proud of their own work. Well done to you all.

Attendance this week has picked up to 95.6% after 2 weeks that were dramatically affected by the weather and chicken pox! I am sure I don’t need to remind you the importance of good attendance and the massive impact it has on the education of children. As ever if there is anything you wish to discuss about your child’s education please do not hesitate to contact a member of the HCPS team.
