Your mission this week is to try to identify this mystery creature. We have no idea what it could be. It was about 7cm long.

I think it is a beetle. It has 2 antenna. 6 legs. It has a head and body section. It is eating grass and flowers so is a herbivore. I looked on google for some more clues and thought it was a ground beetle but ground beetles eat small insects so are carnivores.

It looks like a ground beetle, but it is much bigger. Ground beetles are only 1.6 cm, not 7cm. There are more than 370000 different beetles in the world. I found this fact in my bugs book.

Thank you all for your research. We genuinely had no idea what the creature was. I think the closest suggestion is the Morimus Asper beetle.
