Here’s a post from Tankersley schools website talking about their visit to us before Christmas. Sounds as if they really enjoyed meeting our Learning Council and looking around HCPS.
Here’s what they say:
Tankersley Learning Detecives visit Hoyland Common School

Last Friday, Tankersley St. Peter’s Learning Detectives visited Hoylad Common Scool to meet with their Learning Council. The 12 Learning Detectives, plus Mrs. Hale and Mrs. King were greeted by Mrs. Harrison who made us all very welcome. She provided us with juice and biscuits whilst Hoyland Common Learning Council children arrived. Although the pupils were a little shy of each other to begin with, they soon got talking, as they worked together to identify what they thought good learning looked like. Very soon they were swapping ideas and stories about some of the great ways that learning takes place in both schools. The vist went really quickly but was finished off with a tour of the school by some very proud pupils.
The visit was part of some work done around learning by several schools locally, and as we left, pupils from Birdwell school were getting ready for their visit.
After Christmas it is hoped that both Birdwell and Hoyland Common School Learning Councils will visit Tankersley school to look at the amazing learning that takes place here. We are also hoping to visit Birdwell School in the near future.

This is my reply:
Hello Tankersley Learning Detectives. We are glad you enjoyed visiting us at Hoyland Common Primary, we loved meeting you all and talking about learning. I’ll be in touch with you soon to see if we can arrange an afternoon to visit your school. Please have a look at our school blog and comment on our Learning Council post in the News section of our blog.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Mrs Harrison and the HCPS Learning Council.
Why not have a look at their website, the Learning Detectives post is on the School News page. It would be really good if we could comment on the blogs there. Maybe we can set up a learning conversation?

Ruth
It was really fun meeting you Tankersley. I enjoyed having a chat with you and planning all the words that are something to do with learning.
Mrs Harrison
I’ll get in touch with Tankersley and Birdwell next week Ruth and see if we can organise a time to visit them. It will be interesting to see their schools and look at learning there.
