It has as ever, been a busy but fun week at Hoyland Common Primary School.
Today at the very end of the week we will be enjoying all the fun of Comic Relief including non-uniform, funny faces, colouring competitions and cake sales all to raise money for what is a fantastic cause.
Yesterday the children in Y3/4 started their fencing qualification in PE and looked like they thoroughly enjoyed it. Children have done incredibly well in their assessments and we are looking forward to sharing those with you at parent’s evenings next week.
This week’s school rule for star of the week is to ‘Always approach your learning with a curious and enquiring attitude.’ It was great to discuss this with pupils in assembly on Monday and see them approach it with gusto for the week! Those children selected for Dining with the Star did this because they asked lots of questions to find out more, using their natural curiosity and showing a real eagerness to learn.
Those parents who have children in foundation stage will have noticed that in our never ending journey to ensure that children receive only the best education that a number of changes have been made to the environment, the structure of the day, learning journeys and even how children order their dinners! Please bear with us while these changes are embedded as they are all been done for the benefit of the children in the setting.
Next Monday and Tuesday is obviously parents evening and we are looking forward to being able to discuss the progress of your children over the last term and where they need to go next in their learning. The final week of term is the Y4 residential visit to Sherwood Forest, here’s hoping the weather improves.
Attendance this week has been 97%. In the final 2 weeks of term before the Easter holidays please make a concerted effort to keep attendance as high as it possibly can be. As ever if there is anything you wish to discuss about your child’s education please do not hesitate to contact me or a member of the HCPS team.
