A rucksack was found outside HCPS at dinnertime today. We are trying to find out who it belongs to. The rucksack is blue and black with lots of pockets. Who might it belong to? What should we do?

I think it belongs to a explorer because it has a map and our topic for the this term is going to be explorers it says in the news letter. I want to be an explorer when I’m bigger

In an attempt to reunite this bag with its rightful owner can I recommend that two HCPS staff search the bag, make a record of the contents and attempt to find the owner? It may also be prudent to notify the local police station and check if anyone has reported the loss.
Good idea Mrs Kilburn. We talked about looking in the rucksack when it was handed in but we decided that it wasn’t our property so we made posters and put it on the blog to see if anyone could recognise it. If its not been claimed by tomorrow we will do as you suggest.

I did ring the police station and let them know Harry but no one had lost a rucksack. You are right the rucksack is not ours but the police said could the adults look and see if they could find a name or address in it.

We did as you said and opened the rucksack. So far we found some walking boots, binoculars, a water bottle, a waterproof coat, and a map. We talked about who might need these objects and decided that the rucksack might belong to an explorer! We’ll let you know if we find out anything else.
I think the bag belongs to a bird watcher because of the boots, binoculars and raincoat.
