Well we have come to the end of a long but fantastic first half term of the year. So much has already been packed in to the year and there is also so much more to come. The highlight of the final week of the half term has undoubtedly been the Y6 residential to Thornbridge Outdoors. Y6 children have taken part in a whole host of fantastic activities including climbing, caving, mountain biking, sky ropes, a 10 mile walk down Cheedale Valley and along the Monsal trail to name but a few. However the pinnacle of all this was the number of positive comments from the instructors at Thornbridge and also members of the public we met on the walk on how polite and how well behaved the children of Hoyland Common are. How well they encouraged each other and worked well together, how resilient they are and how they loved to challenge themselves. Well done to you all and thank you to all the members of staff who gave up their time to ensure the children had a fantastic experience.

The stars of the week this week have once again been selected for going that extra mile in their learning. These have included reasons such as, applying themselves in every task they do, fantastic effort in literacy, for completing all of their spelling snails, for having a great attitude towards their learning  and for being a fantastic role model. Well done to you all, enjoy dining with the stars!

Attendance this week has been below the school target for a second week. Lets recharge those batteries over half term ready for attendance awareness month throughout November, lets see just how many children can get 100% attendance for the whole month of November!

As ever if there is anything you wish to discuss about your child’s education please do not hesitate to contact myself or one of the HCPS team. Enjoy the half term break!
