It really has been an amazing week of learning at Hoyland Common Primary School this week, with an incredible range of activities and learning opportunities taking place.

This week the year 5 children have started their bike ability training. Looking at bike maintenance and riding safely and then moving on to riding bikes safely on the road, they have done incredibly well and learnt such a valuable life skill. Thank you to the Active Barnsley team for the fantastic delivery.

On Wednesday it was Young Voices and children right across Key Stage 2 spent the afternoon doing a final practice of the songs they have been learning over the past term with thousands of other children at Sheffield Arena ready for the concert that evening. Once again thank you to all the parents who attended and gave their support to all the children taking part.

Yesterday was a day of creativity in Y2, they built some strange and amazing Dens in the classroom out of a wide variety of material and are doing some amazing work to follow it up. Have a look at the Y2 class blogs to see their fantastic creations.

Yesterday and today pupil in Y3 and Y4 have visited the National Coaling Mining Museum to get a flavour of their own local heritage as part of their topic this term of ‘We are Barnsley’.

It has been incredible to hear feedback from all the visits and visitors in school just how fantastically well behaved they think the children of Hoyland Common Primary School are and are a real credit to the school! Well done to you all.

Attendance this week continues to be positive at 97.3%, again thank you for your continued support on this, it really does make such a fantastic difference to the progress children make.

Our stars of the week this week have really shone in a wide range of areas and this weeks “dining with the stars” was with Miss Hayward. This weeks stars have been given for reasons such as a fantastic performance of the ‘Highway Man’, hard work in literacy and numeracy and having fantastic manners! Well done to you all, keep up the hard work.
