Welcome back one and all! Well it has been a fantastic first day back at Hoyland Common Primary School, it’s great to see so many children eager to be back at school, (and I imagine a few parents happy to see them back too).
I would especially like to welcome our new starters in Foundation Stage and hope they enjoy the first experiences of school, I am sure they will.
The year has started with a real bang, a ‘treasure chest’, has been found and then stolen after being dug up when the end of the school field was developed over the summer. The Y5/6 pupils are trying to track down the thief. 2 back packs have also been found in school and the Y2 pupils are trying to find out who they belong to, I’m sure they will do a great job.
The endless move towards becoming an academy is drawing to an end and if everything goes to plan we should convert on the 1st of October.
We have a number of new staff members joining us this academic year and I am sure we will all do our best to make them welcome.
I am positive it will once again be another fantastic year for all the pupils at Hoyland Common Primary School, and I look forward to them sharing their work and the experiences they have on the website. It would be great if pupils, parents, family and the local community would add their thoughts and comments.
As always I would like to offer you the opportunity to discuss your child’s education with me at any point, particularly if you have any concerns or if you have any ideas how you would like the school to develop and continue to move forward.
Many thanks and here’s to a great school year.

I had a great first day back today. My topic is the best one ever !!! π I think it has something to do with Mr Banham and Miss Carrington because of the hand writing on the letter that we found in the chest. I also think that it was Mrs Joyce because of what was in the bag and there was some recipes and Mrs Joyce loves to cook.
Miss Carrington
Wow Nicole, sounds like you have had a great first day back at school! What is this I read about a chest? You will have to keep me informed π

Hi Miss Carrington I miss you so much!!! Hope you and baby are ok what date is baby due? On monday night between 5-7pm a chest was found on the school field, Mr Banham was going to show it in assembly but someone stole it & we dont know who it is π
Miss Carrington
Is it your challenge to find the culprit who stole the chest? Did you manage to find out everything that was present inside it? I will keep checking your class blog with any updates on your quest!
I am very well, thank you Nicole, missing all of you and school life but will be very busy soon. Baby is due today, 5th of September.
Keep up the hard work and good luck in finding ‘Who dunnit?’ π
