Well it’s been a flying start (literally) to this half term…..
The beginning of the week saw Year 2 visiting wonderful Wentworth Castle on what was an extremely cold February morning. They did however have lots of time to explore the grounds, climb to the top of one of the towers and complete a treasure trail and were lucky enough to have Peter, an ‘expert’ on the history of the castle, to give them a talk and share lots of information about the history of the castle.
We have then had visitors of the feathered variety on Thursday, when Eggucation brought Cindy Pom Pom and Repecker in to meet the children in Key Stage 1. Along with them came 6 eggs in an incubator. Make sure you check the blog site to await the hatching of them in the next couple of weeks.
Our Nursery Children have had much excitement this week preparing for their first school trip of the academic year. On Monday they will be visiting Yummy Yorkshire to sample the many varieties of ice cream on offer there as well as meeting the cows that their delicious ice cream is produced from. On their return keep your eyes out for the ice cream parlour role play that is hopefully making an appearance soon after.
And in the early hours of this morning there were murmurings of a parliament of owls seen over school and then on arrival at school this morning 4 envelopes were found addressed to the children in Class 10, 11 and 12. Watch this space to see what information was enclosed in them!
Stars of Week this week have been selected in the main part for the tremendous effort they have started the new term with! From writing to spelling to maths, effort has been at an all-time high and it’s also admirable to see children who have been chosen for their ability to be role models to their peers.
Attendance this week has been 97%, above school target and this continued effort is much appreciated and also goes a long way in ensuring outcomes for children are the best they can be. Thank you all, parents and children, for making those extra steps to ensure children are in school and happy.
You should all have received parents evening letters this week, please book your appointments and if you are unable to attend on the Tuesday or Wednesday, speak to your child’s teacher and they will be able to arrange a time convenient with you.
As always if you have any issues, concerns or even compliments to share with staff, please do not hesitate to speak to a member of staff at HCPS.
