Today we received a really interesting email from Mrs Davies.

Here it is:

Dear Mrs Harrison and Mrs Paddock

I have received an interesting request from the Barnsley Chronicle.  Somehow they have heard about the ammunition box that has recently been dug up and are very interested to know all about the war artefacts that were found inside it.  They would like to put an article about it in their paper.  The only problem is their local reporter is away on holiday and therefore unable to come and write the report straight away. They are wondering if the Y2 children would be able to write a report for them to put in their newspaper?  They would like to know when and where the ammunition box was found, who found it and all about it’s contents.  They would also love to hear what the children all think about it being found and if it has inspired them to find out more about wartime.  I hope the children will be able to help.

 Kind regards
 Mrs Davies
The Barnsley Chronicle want us to write an article for them about the old Ammunition box that was found on the school banking!  We decided that before we can write the article we need to know more about the features of a newspaper article.  We looked at lots of newspapers and talked about the different features.  We talked about the purpose of Headlines.
Can you think of a headline for our article about the discovery of the Ammunition box?
